Layout

Here you will find the pictures of my layout from its inception, to where I am as improvements are updated. I will try to keep the most recent first so that you will not have to look though all of them before the finished product can be seen.

This is the concept of the layout as I saw it on the RailRoad track program that I had. The black part that is labeled 'bathroom', is the wall that that the layout is against and that the yard is in front of.

Placement of the first double portal proved to be more difficult than I had thought becasue of the curves in respect to the side of the mountain.

I had to put on several cars in order to get the proper spacing for the sidings. This is not as easy as it looks!

The second portal proved to be even more difficult to place than the one near the yard becasue of the small town I want to put here and how much space I allotted for the access hole.

Congestion on the curves.
I had quite a bit of trouble on this end until I could secure the upper track better. There were several derailments because the train kept falling off!

The second layer is being constructed. You can also see how I had to boost up the center track with 2x2ís to keep the height the same. This proved to be very difficult as I am not very good with levels.

Long view, but look to the right and see how I had to make a bridge for the curve for the top track. The span was too large to be supported with normal truss spacing. The problem was how the figure 8 track curved at nearly the same angle. Hiding this to make it look normal will be a big challege.
